Kyoto's appeal lies in the relationship between its celebrated temples and the streets around them. Hyogo offers several distinct journeys west of Osaka. Kobe brings harbour views, international trading history and a strong food identity. Wakayama's landscapes unfold in different directions: the temple complex of Koyasan in the mountains, the historic Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes, and the Pacific coast around Shirahama.
